Starlight is a song about watching someone close to you become corrupted. It's a painful process, and this is a song about letting it all go even though you feel strongly about seeking vengeance. This is from the perspective of someone who is having homicidal thoughts racing through their head after experiencing personal betrayal.
No matter how many times I tell em
They just ain’t listenin'
That’s okay though
Their days are numbered
No one gets out alive
I heard about what the world did to you
I watched the way they treated you too
I watched you turn into a criminal
The clues were there, but they were all subliminal
I gave you all the tips on how to get away
Oh my God, that was stupid of me
I didn’t understand what I was doing
I didn’t know what you’d do to me
I watched the world turn its back on you
I created a monster, I became one too
I watched the world break you down
And take your crown
You’re in my eyes
They’re full of stars now
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
I saw all the things that you went through
How you became the person I thought I knew
Stuck in your head, better off dead
You betrayed me, then off with your head
You don’t deserve the things that I gave you
All the time and patience I sacrificed for you
You walked all over me, I feel so abused
I wish I would have just walked away from you
I would have never hung around the likes of you
Cuz, somethin' told me to go
A voice I should have listened to
Now I want you dead, out of my life, out of my head
I can’t erase what you said
Go ahead and lay down, you made your bed
I swear to God, you’re better off dead
You serve no purpose, you’re so worthless
To kill you would be effortless
And no we can’t coexist
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
Anything in my way Is gonna die today
Ah, haha, and you thought a death threat was something?
Lined up in my sights just like they taught me
You can’t stop me, all you can do is mock me
I’m gonna do what I wanna do, I’m haunting
I’ll get away with it too, just watch me
I sat by, I took your abuse
There’s no excuse, I’ll let you outsmart you
You may have won the battle
But you won’t win the war
I’ll run up on you in the night
I’ll settle the score
Or in broad daylight
I’m really not sure
When I point a gun at you
Tell me what you gonna do?
I’ll chase you down, I’ll wait til you’re alone
I’ll track you down, I’ll run up in your home
I’ll mow you down, I have no pity for your own
I guess you could say that you’re disowned
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
Got that starlight in my eyes
So what you want me to do?
Lookin’ straight at you
I just want to break you
I was raised to hate you
I was raised to kill all you
